NogaLogic 3.0 Helps Companies Optimize the Selection of Unstructured Data for Migration to the Cloud

16.09.2010

  • Automated discovery and content-based data classification reduces costs while ensuring compliance with security and business policies and regulatory mandates

Herzeliya, Israel and Wadgassen, Germany, September 16, 2010 – Nogacom, a leading provider of information management and governance software and services, today announced that its NogaLogic solution now enables customers to optimize the selective migration of their unstructured data to a cloud computing service. By using NogaLogic to manage the migration process of data to the cloud, companies will optimize the use of cloud resources, lower cost of IT operations, and ensure more reliable enforcement of business and security policies.

NogaLogic 3.0 provides a powerful, simple and cost-effective way to automatically identify, manage, move, share and protect unstructured data across the enterprise—regardless of where it is located, how files are named, or how they are accessed in their native applications.

Of particular value to cloud adopters is NogaLogic’s ability to automatically classify unstructured data based on its business content and value.  NogaLogic scans file content to determine whether files contain information about specific customers, products, markets, business units, competitors, etc.  It can therefore determine whether files contain sensitive data—as well as if they are actually copies or versions of other files.  NogaLogic also captures file metadata, file access histories, and email distribution information.  Through its content-aware data classification, NogaLogic can then intelligently move, replicate and/or apply security protections to selected files.

These capabilities allow cloud adopters to define and automatically execute policies that ensure all appropriate files are migrated to the cloud—and, just as important, that no files are inappropriately migrated.  NogaLogic can also automatically apply migration policies to new files on an ongoing basis.

Furthermore, once the cloud computing service has been integrated into the company’s business systems, NogaLogic can automatically manage the unstructured data stored in the cloud in same way that it manages the rest of the organization’s unstructured business data.

“Many organizations want to take advantage of the cost savings, adaptability and accessibility offered by the cloud—but they are concerned about how they can exercise essential control over which data gets moved to the cloud and which data doesn’t,” said Thomas Quednau, Nogacom’s CEO. “NogaLogic addresses this key concern by giving managers both clear, accurate visibility into their unstructured data assets, and the ability to selectively migrate that data to the cloud based on their own business, compliance, security and legal considerations.”

Nogacom will be exhibiting at ITSA booth 331a Nuremberg, Germany, 19-21 October, 2010.
